communitynow Whistler: A People's History
Film of communitynow - Whistler: A People's History
is available at the Whistler Museum.
Whistler: A People's History is Whistler's coming of age story in a new feature-length film that is a compilation of the four-part communitynow film series. More than 50 bona-fide Whistlerites and members of the Lil'wat Nation ages nine to ninety years old share their humourous and heartfelt stories. Follow the mountain community's journey from its First Nations beginnings and sunny days of Rainbow Lodge to a rope-tow ski mountain growing at the speed of a quad chair as it readies itself for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Whistler's story is told by the people of the community; each sharing their memories, successes and hopes for the future. The goal of the Whistler Museum'scommunitynow film project is to foster community pride in Whistler's history and create an archival record that visually documents Whistler's people and places that will be celebrated throughout 2010 and remain accessible for future generations in perpetuity. Presented by: Whistler Museum, Whistler Arts Council, and Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad. With generous support from: CTV, RMOW, Government of BC, and Cultural Capital of Canada 2009. |
